Biometric Requirement for Schengen Visa

  • Mandatory Biometric Data: Effective from 2nd November 2015, it is mandatory for all travelers applying for a Schengen visa to provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photo) during their visa application process.

  • Personal Appearance: All applicants must personally visit the respective Embassy or VFS center for biometric data and application submission.

  • Biometric Validity: Once given, biometric data will be valid for 5 years, meaning travelers will not need to provide fingerprints again for future applications within this period.

 

 

Exemptions from Biometric Requirement:

 

  • Children under 12 years of age.
  • Individuals for whom fingerprint collection is physically impossible.
  • Sovereigns and senior royal family members, Heads of State, and national Government officials (including official delegations and spouses), if traveling for official purposes.

 

 

Additional Information:

 

  • Service for Over-the-Counter Collection: Travel Point Holidays can collect documents and submit them on the applicant’s behalf (except for biometric requirements).

  • Passport Submission: Passport submissions are accepted across India, but all Schengen consulates in Mumbai will no longer accept handwritten passports for visa submission.

  • Authorization Form: An authorization form must be submitted along with the visa application for all Schengen visa submissions.

  • Netherlands Visa Application: Effective immediately, Orange Carpet Visa applications for the Netherlands will be submitted at the Netherlands VFS, not the consulate.

Following docs required for Business Visa.

  1. Passport:

    • Valid for at least 6 months from the date of application.

  2. Photos:

    • Two color photos (35mm x 45mm, white background, 80% of the face visible).

  3. Visa Application Form:

    • Complete the online visa application form for the Netherlands here.

  4. Authorization Form:

    • Submit the authorization form (attached).

  5. Covering Letter:

    • An original covering letter from the Indian company with detailed information about the trip.

  6. Invitation Letter:

    • A detailed invitation letter from the company/individual in the Netherlands.

  7. Income Tax Papers:

    • Personal income tax returns for the last 3 years.

  8. Bank Statement:

    • Personal bank statement for the last 6 months.

  9. Salary Slips:

    • If employed, submit salary slips for the last 3 months.

  10. Air Ticket:

    • Confirmed return air ticket.

  11. Medical Insurance:

    • Valid travel medical insurance covering the duration of stay.

  12. COVID Certificate:

    • Final COVID vaccination certificate (both doses) with the passport number mentioned.

 

Biometric Requirement:

 

  • All applicants must visit the VFS center personally for biometric data unless they have submitted biometrics within the last 5 years. In that case, an agent can apply on their behalf.

 

 

Processing Time & Fees:

 

  • Time Taken: 15 working days after submission.
  • Visa Submission: As per the appointment schedule.
  • Visa Fees: ₹7,010.

Following docs required for Tourist Visa.

  1. Passport:

    • Must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of application.

  2. Photos:

    • Two recent color photos (35mm x 45mm, white background, 80% of the face visible).

  3. Visa Application Form:

    • Complete the online application form for the Netherlands here.

  4. Authorization Form:

    • Attach the duly filled authorization form (if applicable).

  5. Covering Letter:

    • Self-employed applicants: submit an original covering letter on the company letterhead.
    • Employed applicants: submit a covering letter on plain paper and provide a leave letter from the Indian employer.

  6. Hotel Confirmation:

    • Submit confirmed hotel booking as per the travel dates and air ticket.

  7. Income Tax Papers:

    • Provide personal income tax returns (ITR) for the last 3 years.

  8. Bank Statement:

    • Submit a personal bank statement for the last 6 months with bank seal and signature.

  9. Salary Slips:

    • Employed applicants should provide salary slips for the last 3 months.

  10. Air Ticket:

    • Submit a confirmed return air ticket.

  11. Medical Insurance:

    • Provide valid travel medical insurance covering the entire period of stay.

  12. COVID Certificate:

    • Submit the final COVID-19 vaccination certificate (both doses), ensuring the passport number is mentioned.

 

Additional Notes:

 

  • Biometrics Requirement: All applicants must visit the VFS center personally for biometric data. If biometrics were provided within the last 5 years, an authorized representative can apply on the applicant’s behalf.

  • Visa Processing Time: 15 working days from submission.

  • Visa Submission: As per the scheduled appointment.

  • Visa Fees: ₹7010
